No Bridge School Benefit 2017
Neil Young and his former wife Pegi have been hosting the
John Davisson – Neil Young
27th annual Bridge School Benefit at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, Calif.
“Although I will continue in fund raising efforts, for personal reasons beginning this year I will no longer be hosting the Bridge School Concert,” Neil wrote in his statement.
Last year’s event featured Neil, Willie Nelson and Metallica, and previous years also included Dixie Chicks, My Morning Jacket, Paul McCartney and many more.
Pegi Young remains president of the Board of Directors for Bridge School, which she co-founded with Jim Forderer and Marilyn Buzolich in 1986. The couple took inspiration from their son Ben, who was born with cerebral palsy.
Neil and Pegi divorced in 2014 after 36 years of marriage, though there is no indication that the split is related to the personal reasons cited by Young. Neil pulled out of inducting Pearl Jam into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April due to an undisclosed illness.
