Shelby Lynne And Allison Moorer Take On NA

Sisters Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer have been musicians for years, and now they are finally releasing a collaborative album and touring North America to support the project.

The two haven’t toured together since 2010, when they did the “Side by Side” tour. The new dates start at City Winery in New York Aug. 19-20 and continue until Sept. 2 at City Winery in Atlanta. The sisters are also playing City Winery venues in Chicago and Nashville along the way. Tickets are on sale now.

The new project, Not Dark Yet, will feature songs written by the likes of the Louvin Brothers, Nick Cave, and Kurt Cobain. It is due out Aug. 18 and the title track, originally a City Winery tune,  is available for listening now.

The two sisters have subtly different styles, but they share a heartbreaking background. Their father was abusive towards their mother, eventually killing her before taking his own life when Lynne was 17 and Moorer was 14. Their music often is able to explore the dark and solemn realities of life.
