Festival Noize: Music Midtown, Sound On Sound & More

Atlanta’s Music Midtown announces its lineup featuring Bruno Mars, Mumford & Sons and Future … Sound On Sound books Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear, and Iggy Pop … Rise Above Fest features Korn, Shinedown, and Stone Sour … Sing Out Loud Music Festival gives fans a peek at its initial roster.   

Since launching in 1994, Music Midtown Festival is still going strong. Along with Bruno Mars, Mumford & Sons, and Future, the 2017 lineup will feature performances from Blink-182, Wiz Khalifa, Weezer, Big Sean, Haim, Young The Giant, Bastille, Two Door Cinema Club and many more.

The event returns to Atlanta’s Piedmont Park Sept. 16-17.

A presale is ongoing now through June 22 at 10 p.m. EDT for fans who sign up for the Music Midtown E-list. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 23, priced at $135 plus fees for a GA ticket. VIP and Super VIP passes are also available.

The second annual Sound on Sound Festival will fill the Sherwood Forest Faire in McDade, Texas, with the sounds of a range of genres, along with comedy standup and panel sessions. 

Mark your calendar for Nov. 10-12.

The festival has snagged Yeah Yeah Yeahs first confirmed performance since 2013. The roster also includes Iggy Pop, Grizzly Bear, The Shins, Blood Orange, Electric Wizard, Pusha T, Kehlani, Vince Staples,Taking Back Sunday, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires.

Passes are on sale now, starting at $189 for general admission, plus tax and shipping.  

Rise Above Fest returns for its 5th edition July 22-23 at Darling’s Waterfront Park in Bangor, Maine. The event is held to “bring awareness to suicide as an epidemic and to destigmatize depression and other mental illnesses.”

Seether frontman Shaun Morgan launched Rise Above after losing his brother to suicide nearly 10 years ago.

“I started this festival as a tribute to anyone who has lost someone,” Morgan said. “If this festival does something to help one person reconsider the tragic choice of suicide, then it will be the greatest success of my career.”  

The lineup features Seether, Korn, Shinedown, Stone Sour, Halestorm, Skillet, Falling In Reverse, Hellyeah, Theory Of A Deadman, and more.

Tickets are on sale now, priced at $90 for GA lawn and $140 for the pit, plus fees. VIP packages are also available.

Sing Out Loud Festival is back for its second year, hosting hundreds of performances that are free and open to the public.

Presented by Community First Credit Union, the event takes place Sept. 15-17 and Sept. 22-24 at multiple music venues around St. Augustine, Fla. The lineup offers a mix of local, regional and national artists.

This time around the festival will offer artist-focused education workshops, aimed at “sharing industry knowledge regarding booking, promoting, touring and more.” Narrow Magazine will once again host specially-curated artist showcases.
