Protests Near Waterfront Blues Fest

Protesters clashed outside of the Waterfront Blues Festival during its opening night in Portland, Ore., June 30.

Supporters of the right-wing Patriot Prayer group skirmished with anti-fascist counter protesters from Rose City Antifa, reported The Oregonian.

Patriot Prayer planned a two-hour march at Tom McCall Waterfront Park to “promote freedom and courage,” according to the group’s Facebook page.

“Fear will not silence Americans in these liberal strong holds. Please bring your best behavior,” the post read.

Rose City Antifa organized a counter-protest in response. “We will not allow our community to be overrun by fascists and those who make excuses for them,” its Facebook said.

At least three fights broke out between the opposing groups, including a brawl after protesters burned flags. Several demonstrators were pepper-sprayed in another fight.
