Jamey Johnson’s Curious Cancellation

Jamey Johnson’s concert at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, S.C., was canceled day of show, July 23, because of an apparent security concern.

“Tonight’s artist refused to adhere to our safety and security guidelines and would not enter the building,” House of Blues said in a statement. “Unfortunately, tonight’s show is canceled.”

Fans took to the venue’s Facebook page, complaining to either HoB or Johnson of travel time and gas and hotel expenses.  Melonie Cannon, a member of the band, also commented, saying “no one in our band or crew carried a gun in that building … FYI,” adding “We know where guns belong and where they don’t.”

An email to Johnson’s spokeswoman was not returned at press time.
