Global Citizen Unveils Lineup

Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers and The Chainsmokers all top the lineup for New York City’s music festival/social activism platform, Global Citizen Festival.

The event will be on Sept. 23 on the Great Lawn in Central Park. It will be a free, ticketed event, to which admission is earned by volunteering in “action journeys” to support advancements in maternal health, polio eradication, girls’ education, foreign aid, and more.

The three actions journeys are “For Freedom,” “For Justice” and “For All.”  You can register to help GlobalCitizen.Org.

The main goal for the festival is to call on leaders around the world to end extreme poverty by 2030.

“We’re grateful to be a part of this year’s Global Citizen Festival,” Billie Joe Armstrong said. “American aid programs make a significant difference in the betterment of lives at home and around the world, and we should all want these programs to become stronger, not weaker.”

The event will also include special guest performances from Pharrell Williams, Andra Day, Alessia Cara and Big Sean, who will reportedly also be performing at the Great Lawn in Central Park in Las Vegas on the same night.

The event will be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitter if you can’t make it out to NYC.
