A representative from the venue put the number of bees in the thousands, according to local KVOA-TV. “Beekeeper has arrived!! Still trying to make this happen. Can’t make this up! #tour #summer #ABriefHistoryTour,” Rob Thomas posted to his Instagram page.
He later updated, posting a photo of a beekeeper giving a thumbs up and writing, “Thanx #Tucson for waiting around. SO glad we got the show to happen.”

“We immediately called in a bee specialist to handle the matter and clear the bees so no guests, staff, or the band would be harmed,” Casino del Sol CEO Kim Van Amburg said in a written statement Friday morning reported by The Arizona Daily Star
“Once the situation was handled, guests were able to safely enter AVA and Matchbox Twenty took the stage and gave Tucson a great show!”
The Matchbox Twenty concert was not the only instance of aggressive bees in Tucson recently, with reports of at least three attacks that led to dozens of injuries and two deaths — including a landscaper and a man playing golf. Matchbox Twenty’s “A Brief History Tour” continues into October, taking in the South, East Coast and Midwest.
