Lanxess Arena Celebrates Record Half-Year

Cologne, Germany’s  attracted more than 1.4 million visitors to 135 events in the first six months of 2017, which marks a new record and its best Pollstar Mid-Year ranking to date.

Seventy-five of the events were concerts, attracting 748,450 visitors, according to a statement from the arena. 

Highlights included shows by Phil CollinsEd SheeranBruno Mars and Kings of Leon.

“I’m proud our team turned this incredibly intense period into a success,” said arena CEO Stefan Löcher.

Josef Sommer, CEO of Köln Tourismus, Cologne’s tourism agency, estimated that Lanxess Arena was responsible for about 10 percent of the city’s tourism.

Löcher now aims to crack the 2-million-visitors-in-one-year threshold for the first time in the arena’s history, which started in 1998.
