The Aug. 27 performance was the fifth show scrapped on the 10-date routing, according to TheCommercial Appeal.

Concerts in Los Angeles, Dallas, New Orleans and Baton Rouge, La., were canceled after a BuzzFeed investigative story by former Chicago Sun-Times reporter Jim DeRogatis accused the singer of holding women against their will in a “cult”-like atmosphere.

Kelly, who has dealt with allegations and legal problems concerning his relationships with underage girls in the past, is denying the report.

The FedExForum announced Aug. 25 that the concert was canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

But the R&B star is putting the blame on the concert’s promoter, Julius Lewis.

“The decision to cancel the show was by the promoter, in breach of their agreement and out of Mr. Kelly’s control,” a statement posted to the singer’s Twitter said.

Lewis told the Commercial Appeal that the show was nixed because of poor ticket sales, noting that “sales had been good until all the controversy started.”

Kelly’s Atlanta area show at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater Aug. 25 continued as planned, although small groups of protestors picketed the show.

Kelly has upcoming dates in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Ontario, Canada, in October.
