Drake Takes On Australia, NZ

One of hip-hop’s biggest stars is ready to shine Down Under, as Drake is shipping his “Boy Meets World” tour to Australia and New Zealand.

Things start at Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand Nov. 3 and will continue for just under 3 weeks, wrapping up with two nights in Melbourne Nov. 18 and 20. There is also a stop in Brisbane and two in Sydney scheduled.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Sept. 15.

Drake just put on his annual OVO Festival in August and brought the Boy Meets World tour to Europe before that. The run through Europe gave Drizzy a glimpse into what he can draw on the international stage. He was averaging more than 80 percent of available tickets sold, with plenty of nights cresting 90 percent attendance, so the tour showed that he is in fact still in high demand overseas from his native Canada.

Of the nights in Europe where Drake’s numbers were below his average a few were at Ziggo Dome in the Netherlands, where he initially did very well but split four shows into three parts of the tour, so it might have been tough to leave the market and then return a month later, twice. Also, according to our data fans didn’t turn out in the great numbers in specific parts of the U.K., as sales in Glasgow, Scotland and Leeds, England were underwhelming.
