Honoring Walter Becker

Steely Dan co-founder Walter Becker is honored coast to coast, with displays at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., and the Beacon Theatre in New York. The bassist/guitarist died Sept. 3 at the age of 67.

Beacon Theatre, manager for Steely Dan, played an integral part in the renovation of the Forum. Azoff serves as the chairman/CEO of Azoff MSG Entertainment and provides consultancy and advisory services to MSG in connection with the management of its venues including the Forum.

Over on the East Coast, the Beacon Theatre posted a tribute to Becker on its marquee. The New York venue has hosted several Steely Dan residencies over the years.

“Deeply saddened by the passing of Walter Becker. We invite you to share your favorite memories of Walter at the Beacon,” the venue tweeted Sept. 3, along with the photo of the Beacon.  

The venue also tweeted a concert photo of Becker and wrote, “Rest in peace Walter Becker, a great friend of the Beacon whose legacy will always be a part of our history.”
