Tommy Emmanuel Announces 2018 Excursion

Tommy Emmanuel is continuing to fill out his 2018 calendar with his latest announcement featuring a 12-day tour with special guest Rodney Crowell.

Emmanuel should have an exciting year coming up, thanks to the promise of new music. The esteemed Australian guitarist is currently in the studio. All details about the new album are still under wraps.

In May Emmanuel released Live! At The Ryman, a collection of tunes recorded at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in February 2016. The special evening included appearances by Steve Wariner and John Knowles, which Emmanuel’s PR rep points out are the only other two living CGPs. Of course, all guitar fans know that CGP stands for Certified Guitar Players, an honor which Chet Atkins came up with for himself and four other musicians he admired.

The tour with Crowell kicks off Feb. 1 at Boston’s The Wilbur. Other stops include State Theatre in State College, Penn.; The Birchmere in Alexandria, Va.; Egyptian Room in Indianapolis; Thalia Hall in Chicago; and Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis.

Emmanuel’s remaining 2017 plans include headline gigs in Hawaii and November’s “CGP & Dawg Tour” with David Grisman, and special guests Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley on select dates. Finally, Emmanuel’s “Classics & Christmas Tour” is scheduled Nov. 30 through Dec. 16, featuring original material and Christmas tunes.

Tickets are on sale now.
