Detroit Powerhouses Join For 313 Presents

Two of Detroit’s biggest rivals in concert promotion – Palace Sports & Entertainment and Olympia Entertainment – launched a new alliance today, 313 Presents.

313 Presents
– 313 Presents

The strategic alliance was launched through a website, 313Presents.com. The joint venture will handle the scheduling production, marketing and media relations for the market’s six major venues, according to the Detroit Free Press: Little Caesars Arena, DTE Energy Music Theatre, fox Theatre, Meadow Brook Amphitheatre, Comerica Park and Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill.

The venture has been in works for some time, according to the paper’s pop music critic, Brian McCollum, and was inspired when Tom Gores announced his Detroit Pistons would leave the Palace of Auburn Hills for Little Caesars Arena, managed by the Ilitch family.

About 40 people from the Palace and Olympia make up the staff, which will be headquartered inside the new arena starting next month, the paper said.

313 Presents expects to produce more than 500 events annually.

PS&E has historically had the dominant presence in Detroit with its Palace of Auburn Hills in the forefront, and Olympia played second-fiddle with the Joe Louis Arena. However, with those two venues gone, and with the Pistons move to Ilitch’s new flagship facility

Olympia Entertainment President Tom Wilson, a former PS&E exec – will be interim chief for 313 Presents as it shops for a full-time boss, the paper said.

“Entertainment fans in our city, region and state are in for a treat, as 313 Presentswill bring the world’s most dynamic, exciting and diverse acts to our variety of world-class venues,” said Chris Granger, Group President, Sports and Entertainment for Ilitch Holdings, Inc. “313 Presentswill offer a simple and straightforward destination for fans to receive all of the tickets and information they need to enjoy these acts.”

“From nationally-recognized venues to industry-best operational practices, 313 Presentswill provide entertainment fans and industry insiders with the very best customer experience,” said Arn Tellem, Vice Chairman for Palace Sports & Entertainment. “By working with 313 Presents, booking agents, tours and promoters will have a single source for booking venues from 4,000 to 40,000 in capacity depending on the artistic preference, career arc and popularity of the performer.”
