Weezer And Pixies Team Up

Weezer and Pixies are joining forces for a summer co-headlining tour, with the first leg kicking off June 23 at the MidFlorida Credit Union in Tampa, Fla.

The seven-week tour will make stops in cities including Dallas, Cincinnati, Atlanta and Nashville before wrapping up at the at the Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix Aug. 12.

Tickets go on sale Nov. 10.

Weezer’s eleventh studio album, Pacific Daydream, dropped in October. The band recently celebrated the record’s release with a performance of the single “Happy Hour” on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

“We’re all big Weezer fans,” Pixies vocalist Black Francis said in a statement. “So we’re really looking forward to this summer. We have a lot of respect for Weezer, they’re not afraid to take risks in their music”   

Pixies and Weezer are touring giants. According to Pollstar box office reports, Pixies sold out four shows in a row in September. Weezer, who completed an extensive tour with Panic! At The Disco last year, played a sold out show at Seattle’s The Showbox earlier this year.
