The 26-year-old performer, born Solána Imani Rowe, released her debut EP, See.SZA.Run, in 2012. A second EP, S, dropped in 2013 followed by EP, Z, in 2014. After signing with TDE, she went on a brief tour with Little Dragon of Sweden. SZA has since collaborated with Maroon 5, Travis Scott, Chance The Rapper, 50 Cent, and Jill Scott and toured with Jhené Aiko.
ICM Partners’ Caroline Yim said she and co-agent Zach Iser were approached by TDE’s “Punch” Henderson regarding SZA.
“There was a buzz in New York, but we found out [about her] through Top Dawg Entertainment. I checked her out and I thought she was amazing! She was definitely doing something different,” Yim told Pollstar. “When we listened to her music, it was unique, it was fun with a fresh perspective that only SZA can bring to it.”
Iser added, “I really loved how unique she is, and she has such a great live show.”
SZA launched a 44-date, North American headline tour in August in support of her debut full-length album, Ctrl, released in June. The trek, which Yim said sold out, hits venues approximately 1,000 to 2,500-capacity.
“Her fan base is so diverse. [She’s worked] with hip hop and R&B artists to the other side of the spectrum of doing a show with Coldplay,” Yim said. “She’s always up for the challenge.”
SZA is on the road with Bryson Tiller in Europe through late November. She headlines the U.S. in December and heads to Australia in January.
