An industry source since confirmed the move to Pollstar, but declined to hint where Meall might be headed next.
He’s been with UTA since 1992, when it was still known as The Agency Group, before UTA bought it in 2015. Another former UTA agent, Natasha Bent, left the company almost exactly a year ago, to join Coda, which is part of the Paradigm group.
Former Live Nation Entertainment executive vice president and president of global talent and artist development David Zedeck in July took the helm at UTA. Neil Warnock, the founder of The Agency Group, remains on board UTA in a leadership role.
2015’s deal for the Agency Group brought UTA a reported stable of more than 95 agents and 2,300 clients across seven global offices and helped make UTA a major player in the music agency space.
The Agency Group’s roster at the time included Guns ‘N Roses Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Muse, The Black Keys, Paramore, Foster the People, Nickelback, David Gilmour, Ringo Starr, X Ambassadors, Foals, Dolly Parton, Rachel Platten, Ms. Lauryn Hill, A Great Big World, The Kills, Jeff Bridges, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Hanson, Boy George, Rodriguez, George Benson, Deep Purple, Merle Haggard, and Rush among many others.
UTA, since the TAG acquisition, has aggressively expanded, signing a number of major artists, including Jeremih, DJ Khaled, French Montana, Trace Adkins, YG, Jeezy, Clay Walker, Dave Navarro, and Jason Bonham.
In September, UTA acquired the Greater Talent Network speakers bureau.
In August, however, the company began shuttering its Toronto operations which were consolidated into its New York and L.A. offices.
