Shakira El Dorado Europe Leg Moved To 2018

Shakira’s El Dorado world tour won’t commence until 2018. The singer suffers from a vocal cord hemorrhage, according to promoter Live Nation.

“We regret to inform that, as per doctors’ orders, Shakira’s El Dorado World Tour dates for Europe are now being postponed to 2018. Due to a vocal cord hemorrhage, Shakira has been advised to delay any performance for the time being in order to allow her to properly heal before commencing her world tour and avoid any further damage,” the statement reads.

This means that the entire European leg of the El Dorado world tour will be pushed to 2018. Including today’s scrapped show at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands, 13 dates are affected: Arena Montpellier, France (Nov. 18), followed by six dates in Spain and Portugal, Nov. 17-26, at Bilbao’s Exhibition Centre, Madrid’s Wizink Centre, Lisbon’s Altice Arena, A Conruña’s Coliseum and two shows at the Palau San Jordi in Barcelona.

On Nov. 28, Shakira was scheduled to play Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon, France, before traveling to Germany’s Olympiahalle Munich (Nov. 20), Switzerland’s Hallenstadion Zurich (Dec. 1), the Medionlanum Forum in Milan, Italy (Dec. 3), and finally Rockhal in Esch-Sur-Alzette, Luxemburg, on Dec. 4.

The tour was originally set to begin on Nov. 8 at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany. Live Nation advises ticket holders to keep their tickets, as the promoter promises to announce replacement dates for all the shows that had to be scrapped thus far.

“While greatly disappointed by these results as she had hoped to be able to begin by this week, Shakira is working towards recovering and is looking forward to returning to the stage with her best show yet. Shakira remains incredibly grateful for all the loyalty, patience and support her fans have shown her during this difficult time,” the statement continues.

Since the new year is supposed to start with a Jan. 1 show at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Shakira may still be kicking off El Dorado in Europe. However, from Jan. 9 she’ll be touring the U.S., starting at Florida’s Amway Center, and closing 18 dates later at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Feb. 10 – including two Canada concerts at Montréal’s Bell Centre and Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on Jan. 19-20.

Shakira’s last went on tour in 2010-11. The 100-plus-date Sun Comes Out World Tour started on Sept. 15, 2010, at Montreal’s Bell Centre, and wrapped Oct. 14-15, 2011, with two shows at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan.

Over the course of 138 box office reports to Pollstar, Shakira has averaged 16,954 tickets sold and $1,077,667 gross.
