Get Ready for ‘Queen Mary’ Fest?
Goldenvoice has inked a deal with the leaseholder of the Queen Mary, the retired ocean liner that now serves as a hotel, museum and tourist attraction in Long Beach, Calif., meaning the Queen will see “large-scale music festivals and concerts” in 2018
The terms of the deal between GV and Urban Commons, the leaseholder since 2016, were not disclosed. Urban Commons already announced plans to renovate the ship and are further seeking to transform the “65 acres of waterfront land surrounding the ship” into an “all-inclusive entertainment destination,” according to a press release.
“Our goal is to create community integrated and culturally significant events, and we are up to that challenge with this partnership” Paul Billings of AEG Presents and Goldenvoice said in a statement.
The move has the creative fingerprints of GV’s Paul Tollett and his team, who have maneuvered the Coachella and Stagecoach promoter into being one of the industry’s leading companies.
Pollstar reached out to Goldenvoice for additional comment for the story, but hadn’t heard back at press time.
