Ariana Grande, Foo Fighters, Pixies Debut On Pollstar Concert Pulse

Some major tours have shaken up the Pollstar Global Concert Pulse this week, with Ariana Grande (No. 10, $1.4 million average gross), Foo Fighters (No. 18, $1.0 million), Imagine Dragons (No. 30, $744,868)) and Pixies (No. 63, $119,233) among the new entries.

Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman tour ended in Asia, with box office reports submitted to Pollstar including the final night at the tour, Sept. 21 at AsiaWorld Arena in Hong Kong, which sold 7,740 tickets and grossed $1.19 million.

Other reports include Sept. 19 at Taipei Arena in Taiwan (11,570, $1.37 million), Sept. 12 at Brisbane Enteratinment Center in Australia (sold out, 10,604, $1.02) and two shows at ICC Sydney Theatre in Sept 8-9, which sold a combined 16,505 tickets and grossed $1.6 million. Aug. 28 at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai sold 12,291 tickets and grossed just under $1.4 million. Average ticket price was $90.28 in U.S. dollars and average gross $1.4 million.

Grande’s tour was interrupted May 22 when a terrorist attack unfolded outside Manchester Arena in England, killing 22 people.

The GLOBAL CONCERT PULSE ranks each artist by its average boxoffice gross per city worldwide and is based on data reported within the last three months. All figures in U.S. dollars.

Back on the home front, Foo Fighters’ Concrete And Gold World Tour kicked off its North American leg in October, with reports submitted to Pollstar including the kickoff show at the brand-new Anthem in Washington, D.C., which sold out 6,000 tickets and grossed $610,525. Other reports include Golden 1 Center in Sacramento Dec. 2 (13,197, $1.73 million), Save Mart Center in Fresno Dec. 1 (11,345, $982,235), Nov. 15 at BOK Center in Tulsa (11,119, $1.01 million) and Nov. 10 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, which sold out 13,958 tickets and grossed $1.28 million. Average ticket price is $92.06.

Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters is fired up when the band plays the Corona Capital music festival at the Autodomo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City Nov. 18.

Dave Grohl and the gang still have 52 dates on the calendar, with multiple north American legs coming between stays in Australia, South American and Europe taking them into October of 2018.

Pixies, No. 63 on the chart, have been doing large clubs and theatres for most of the year, with many multiples. Box office reports include Oct. 21 at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas (2,644, $98,360), Oct. 17 at Boulder Theatre in Colorado (1,150, $69,000), Oct. 8 at Chicago Theatre (3,449, $171,444) and Sept. 27 MTELUS in Montreal (2,200, $100,567).

Black Francis and the Massachusetts rockers have 30 dates on the books, mostly summer amphitheatre dates with Weezer taking them into August. Average Pixies gross is $119,233 and ticket price is $48.98.
