Reporting directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook, Eddy Cue oversees Apple’s massively popular content stores, including the two platforms that revolutionized the way fans consume music: the iTunes Store and Apple Music.
Cue was instrumental in creating the Apple online store in 1998, the iTunes Store in 2003, and the App Store in 2008, and played a key role in developing Apple’s award-winning iLife suite of applications.
“Eddy Cue and his team at Apple have changed the way we listen to music, played a transformative role in artist discovery, and ignited the passion of music fans,” said Ray Waddell, president, Media & Conferences, for Oak View Group, producers of Pollstar Live! (and Pollstar parent company). “We are thrilled to have him address the attendees at Pollstar Live! and can’t wait to hear what he has to say.”
Already announced to speak at the Feb. 6-8 concert business conference are industry heavyweights such as Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, Spotify’s Troy Carter, Dallas Mavericks owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban. Pollstar Live! takes place at the Intercontinental Downtown LA.
“Apple and the Music Business: A Q&A with Eddy Cue” will kick off programming for Pollstar Live! 2018 the morning of Feb. 7, following the Opening Reception the night before.
Other panel discussions announced so far for Pollstar Live! include “Underground To Mainstream: What Are Metal and Hip-Hop Doing Right (And Where Does It Go From Here?),” which recently added Slipknot’s M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan.
Also on the schedule with major industry players are “Arms Race: Can The Indie Festivals Compete With Global Bookers,” and “Serious About Comedy: A Look At The Exploding Live Comedy Business,” which includes CAA’s Matt Blake, Gersh Agency’s Rick Greenstein, ICM Partners’ Steve Levine, WME’s Stacy Mark, UTA’s Nick Nuciforo, Levity Entertainment Group’s Judi Marmel, and Live Nation president of Comedy Geof Wills.
Pollstar Live! 2018 is preceded by Production Live!, Feb. 6, a day of programming dedicated to the production side of the industry.
Pollstar Live! culminates in the 2018 Pollstar Awards, presented by Live Nation at The Wiltern theatre, which highlights outstanding achievement in live music over the past year.
