Michael Rapino Makes It Official With Live Nation Through 2022
Michael Rapino, as expected, inked a five-year contract that ensures he’ll continue as Live Nation’s president and chief executive officer through at least Dec. 31, 2022, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
As part of the compensation package, he’ll receive a base salary of $3 million plus performance enhancements and common stock grants.
Rapino has led Live Nation from its 2004 spin-off as a public company from Clear Channel Communications, through the Great Recession, to its most recently reported quarterly earnings of $136.4 million, thecompany’s best ever.
Ticket sales and events were up, along with ticket price and per-head ancillary revenues, driving the big quarter – along with stadium tours from U2, Guns N’ Roses and Coldplay – all sure to be occupying top spots in Pollstar’s upcoming box office year-end reporting.
The live music brand has operations in more than 40 countries with an annual revenue of more than $8 billion.
Rapino is to be a featured speaker at the 2018 Pollstar Live! conference in Los Angeles, taking place Feb. 6-8 and also spotlighting industry heavy hitters including Mark Cuban, Rich Bressler, Troy Carter and others.
