Update: Status Quo Cancels Rest Of Germany Dates Citing Illness

UPDATE: On Dec 15, promoter Paco Agency had to cancel the remainder of Status Quo’s German tour.

“Further to the cancellation of shows in Berlin, Frankfurt and Baden Baden, it is with great regret that QUO are forced to announce that the remaining dates in the German Aquostic tour will also be cancelled due to Francis Rossi’s ongoing illness,” the band’s official statement reads.

“It was hoped that he would be able to recover enough to perform the rest of the dates of the tour from tonight – Friday Dec 15th but unfortunately that has not been the case.”

Previously:
Status Quo’s singer and guitarist Francis Rossi is suffering from a chest infection, according to the band, forcing it to cancel its first three December dates in Germany.

Status Quo are in the midst of presenting their unplugged show Aquostic Live in Germany for the first time. After the first three dates, Nov. 18-22, at Donau Arena in Regensburg, Stadthalle in Bielefeld and Kuppelsaal in Hannover, the tour was supposed to continue in December.

Due to Rossi’s illness, however, the Dec. 11-13 shows at Berlin’s Friedrich-Stadt-Palast, Frankfurt’s Jahrhunderthalle and Baden Baden’s Festispielhaus were canceled.

A statement released on the band’s socials reads: “Francis has a chest infection which has left him incapacitated and unable to sing. He is currently receiving medical attention in Germany and had hoped that he would be able to recover enough to perform at these shows, but unfortunately that has not been the case.

“Status Quo would like to sincerely apologize to the fans planning to attend the show.”

The statement informs ticket holders to wait for “a further announcement in due course.”

Status Quo manager Simon Porter added, “We hate to have to cancel shows and hope that the fans realize that these situations are outside of our control. The band love to perform in Germany. However, Francis could not deliver the kind of performance that the band’s fans expect and deserve and that has left us with no choice.”

From Dec. 15-21, the Aquostic Live tour is set to visit Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Friedrich Händel Halle in Halle/Saale, Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf, Mehr! Theater in Hamburg and Meistersingerhalle in Nürnberg.

Pollstar reached out to promoter Paco Agency, who said, “at this moment in time we hope that Francis Rossi will be fit again come Friday and the concert in Stuttgart will take place,” emphasizing, however, that it was impossible to make a binding statement.
