The iconic Forum in Inglewood, Calif., is turning 50 years old in 2018 and it is kicking off the celebration with 193.000 flowers for a float in this year’s Pasadena’s Rose Parade.

A surprise guest will perform live on the float, though your guess is as good as ours as to who it will be.

The float, sponsored by Live Nation and designed by Phoenix Decorating Company,  will also feature a 27-foot tall video board tower mimicking the venue’s actual sign. The display will include ground rice and close to 200,.000 flowers including bright yellow roses, white mums, orange roses, white iris, red carnations, and white Cattleya orchids.

The Forum was opened to the public Dec. 30, 1967, and the first show was put on by Aretha Franklin Jan. 22 the following year. Other luminaries to play the venue include The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, the Eagles. The Forum has also hosted the MTV Video Music Awards, Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards,.

We are still entering data for the Forum’s 2017 totals but the venue clearly had a good year, hosting multiple nights of leading acts like Guns N’ Roses, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Eric Clapton, J. Cole, Lady Gaga, Neil Diamond, Marco Antonio Solis, and Garth Brooks (who played four nights at the venue July 22 and 28-30). The venue is often the final stop of a major artist’s tour.

The Madison Square Garden co-owned building has a max capacity of 17,500 and its owners are leading the charge against a potential competing arena in Inglewood that would likely house the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers.

The Rose Parade takes place Jan. 1 and will be broadcast live starting at 8 a.m. PST from Pasadena.

The Forum is affiliated with Azoff MSG Entertainment, which is co-owned by Irving Azoff who sits on the board of the Oak View Group, Pollstar‘s parent company.
