Midem is honoring SB Projects founder Scooter Braun as the music industry’s event’s first-ever recipient of the “Midem Hall of Fame Award.”
The talent manager and entrepreneur will be recognized for his outstanding contribution to the music industry and to creativity as a whole during the Midem Music Awards on June 7. Braun is also participating in a keynote conversation that day, discussing how he has built SB Projects into a diversified entertainment and media company with ventures at the intersection of music, film, television, technology, brands, culture and social good.
Justin Bieber, Kanye West, and Ariana Grande are just a few of the artists under Braun’s roster of management, record label and publishing companies.
As part of SB Project’s film and production division, Braun put out his first documentary film, “Never Say Never,” and is one of the executive producers on the hit CBS show “Scorpion.”
Braun continues to give back, with a philanthropic element for each new initiative. Last year Braun helped bring the music industry together in times of crisis by organizing the “One Love Manchester” benefit concert in June to help victims of the Manchester Arena bombing, followed by “Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief” telethon in September. Braun also serves on the boards of Pencils of Promise and FuckCancer.
“I’m honored to be the first recipient of Midem’s ‘Hall of Fame Award’ and look forward to joining my colleagues at Midem this summer to discuss how the music industry can continue to not only grow but also give back,” Braun said in a statement.
Midem returns to the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, June 5-8, featuring four days of networking, panels, competitions, keynote speeches and concerts. Professionals from across the music industry will be represented at Midem, including artists, agents, managers, labels and publishers, as well as representatives from tech and festivals.
Midem and Pollstar announced last month that they are partnering to launch the first-ever Live Summit on June 7, offering a curated look at the current challenges and rewards of today’s live music sector.
