Billy Joel is returning to Kansas City, Miss., to play at Kauffman Stadium, marking the baseball parks’ first concert in 39 years.
The MLB’s Kansas City Royals, who play at the 37,903-capacity stadium, teamed with Live Nation to announce that Joel will perform at the ballpark Sept. 21.
Tickets go on sale Jan. 26 and range in price from $49 to $149.50.
The last concert at the stadium, a bill consisting of Santana, REO Speedwagon, Little River Band and Pat Travers, took place in September 1979, according to The Wichita Eagle.
The baseball park is not the only stadium hosting shows in Kansa City this year, however.
Three concerts have been confirmed to take place at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, including Kenny Chesney on July 14, Taylor Swift on Sept. 8 and Ed Sheeran Oct. 13.
Joel played his last show in Kansas City at the Sprint Center in 2015. The concert sold out, selling 17,429 tickets and grossing more than $1.6 million, with tickets priced from $19.50 to $127.50.
The Piano Man’s last outing, a string of four dates in late 2017, grossed more than $7.8 million and sold 68,050 tickets, with each gig selling out. The tour’s highest gross set took place Dec. 31 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., with more than $2.3 million earned.
Joel is also slated for five-date residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden, running from Feb. 21 through June 2.
