Citi members have access to a presale starting Jan. 22, through Jan. 25, with a general onsale beginning Jan. 26.
Artist Group International’s Dennis Arfa, who has represented Joel for 40 years, told Pollstar, “I don’t believe that there is any artist in the world who has sold out a 19,000 venue 100 times.”
Joel, who was born in the Bronx and was raised on Long Island, has become a “franchise” of MSG alongside sports tenants The New York Knicks, New York Rangers and the WNBA’s New York Liberty.
For 2017, with 11 box office reports submitted to Pollstar for 2017, Joel of course sold those out with 205,843 tickets, grossing more than $24 million.
In 2016, with 12 shows reported, The Piano Man moved 224,268 tickets and grossed $26.2 million according to reports submitted to Pollstar – again sold out, of course.
For 2018, Joel’s MSG shows announced so far are Feb. 21, March 28, April 13, May 23, June 2 and the 100th show, July 18.
Although the MSG shows may be the most prominent, Joel did plenty of other shows in 2017, and ranked at No. 9 on Pollstar’s Year End Top 200 North American Tours chart with $82.3 million grossed.
Shows included stadiums such as Busch Stadium in St. Louis (40,947 tickts, $4.7 million), Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia (41,182, $4.5 million) and Fenway Park in Boston, which sold out 36,446 tickets and grossed more than $4.2 million.
