‘Dancing With The Stars’ Tour Bus Involved In Pileup: Iowa Show Canceled, Cast and Crew OK

A tour bus transporting the cast and crew of “Dancing With The Stars: Live! Light Up The Night” was involved in a massive pileup en route to the Stephens Auditorium in Ames, Iowa, forcing the cancellation of the show.

“All cast and crew members are fine, with some recovering from minor injuries,” read a statement from Iowa State University where the venue is located. “Given this unforeseen accident, and the fact that the safety and health of our cast and crew is of the utmost importance, tonight’s show at Stephens Auditorium in Ames, IA has been cancelled. To anyone involved in the accident, the entire cast sends their best wishes for a speedy recovery, and their deepest apologies to all of the fans who have been waiting to see the show tonight.”

The 70-car pileup on I-35 north of Ames, Iowa, was triggered by a massive snowstorm that blanketed the area. At press time state police said seven people were killed and 185 accidents caused by the weather in the vicinity.

The Dancing With The Stars tour was to continue Feb. 6 in Rockford, Ill., at the Cornonado Performing Arts Center, with the show apparently unaffected. The tour continues through the end of March, ending on the West Coast.

Recent Boxoffice reports submitted to Pollstar for Dancing With The Stars include Jan. 16 at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, which sold 2,773 tickets and grossed $192,383, and the Altria Theatre in Richmond, Va., Jan. 3, which sold 2,865 and grossed $187,622. The Fox Theatre in Atlanta sold out 4,482 tickets and grossed $344,671 Jan. 2, all with NS2 Shows promoting.
