Paul Friedman Promoted To VP Of Music Affairs At Sony Pictures

Sony Pictures Entertainment has named Paul Friedman as executive vice president of music business affairs and administration.

In his new role, Friedman will oversee all music-related business and transactions, including the acquisition of music rights for theatrical, television, video game, home entertainment and mobile productions.  He is also in charge of Madison Gate Records, Sony Entertainment’s label focusing on soundtracks from film, television and other forms of entertainment media.

Friedman has spent 16 years with the company, handling music needs for some of the Sony’s biggest movies, including the Spider-Man franchise.

He previously practiced law in Los Angeles for King, Holmes, Paterno and Berliner, LLP, and worked as a financial analyst for Polygram Music Publishing.

Friedman takes over the position left vacant by Shelly Bunge’s departure from Sony.
