Joe Jackson’s July tour has the singer/songwriter revisiting towns he hasn’t played in years and even performing in a few locales for the very first time.

At first it may not seem like a difficult task to play somewhere for the first time. That is, until you consider Jackson has been touring for almost 40 years. That’s a lot of gigs.

Jackson’s upcoming set of dates is being described as “one more ‘encore’” to his “Fast Forward Tour,” named after his 2015 album. Jackson’s game plan is to go deep into his marvelous catalog and play songs from across his career. Jackson’s announcement also promises “an unpredictable selection of covers and brand new, never before performed originals.”

Destinations include Tarrytown, N.Y.; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Munhall, Pa.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Backing Jackson will be long-time collaborator Graham Maby on bass plus guitarist Teddy Kumpel and drummer Doug Yowell.

Browsing through box office data submitted to Pollstar during the past few years shows several sold-out evenings as well as concerts where attendance was certainly less than desired. Jackson’s June 2017 gig at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, N.J., sold all 1,289 tickets and grossed more than $90,000. However, Jackson’s show at the Brady Theater in Tulsa, Okla., filled less than half the house, resulting in 400 tickets sold for a gross just over $29,730.

Tickets for Jackson’s summer tour go on sale March 16 at 10 a.m. local time. Be sure to check Pollstar’s Joe Jackson page for concert updates.
