After making headlines for fleeing New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport Friday when a Transportation Security Administration agent found a loaded gun in his bag, rapper Juelz Santana turned himself in and was arrested early Monday.

The 36-year-old rapper was reportedly flying out to San Francisco to perform at The Grand Nightclub, according to NorthJersey.com, which noted that the show was canceled. A TSA agent discovered a .38-caliber handgun in one of his bags during an X-ray screening. The rapper took off, abandoning behind his two bags and identification, and reportedly left in a taxi.
Santana was charged with “possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a weapon on an aircraft, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of drugs,” according to NJ.com. His arrest record included a felony conviction in 2013 for manufacturing and selling drugs, as well as 2009 charges stemming from allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a knife.

The rapper appeared in federal court in Newark on Monday and a judge ordered him to remain in custody until his preliminary hearing March 26.  He could face up to a decade in prison, according to NorthJersey.com.
