David Byrne Books More ‘Utopia’ Shows

David Byrne is filling up his September calendar.  The former Talking Heads frontman has added a September run along the East Coast as well as a gig in Dallas.

Byrne is touring in support of his new album, American Utopia, released March 9 via Todomundo / Nonesuch Records.  Along with performing tracks from the new L.P., Byrne plans to give audiences a generous helping of his solo career as well as delve into his days as a Talking Head.

Boxoffice data submitted to Pollstar shows Byrne’s touring career has had its ups and downs when it comes to ticket sales.  During his 2012 tour with St. Vincent, Byrne sold out the house when he played venues like Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Beacon Theatre in New York and the Chicago Theatre in Chicago.  Byrne’s show that year at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium sold 1,783 of a possible 2,251 tickets for an evening’s gross just over $87,000.  Houston had lackluster sales with Byrne’s appearance at Sarofim Hall selling 1,248 out of 2,563 tickets for a $60.110 gross.
