Kurt Vile To Cruise With The Violators
John Davisson – Kurt Vile
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn.
Kurt Vile has announced his first North America shows with The Violators in over a year. The tour begins in Morgantown, W.V., and includes Charlottesville, Va., Jersey City, N.J., and Chattanooga, Tenn., before concluding in Charlotte, N.C.
Vile also has a stop at Mountain Jam Festival in Hunter, N.Y., in June and will play the Forecastle Fest in Louisville in July.
Vile isn’t exactly idle while waiting for June and the start of the tour. He’s supporting John Prine at Merriam Theater in Philadelphia April 14.
Of course, Vile has his fingers in several show-biz pies. He’s supplied the voice of the animated singing squirrel on HBO’s “Animals,” he’s played a roadie on “Portlandia” and he’s even covered the “Squidbillies” theme song. Along with Prine, Vile has worked with such artists as Cyndi Lauper, Courtney Barnett, John Cale and Kim Gordon. There’s even a day named in his honor in his Philadelphia home stomping grounds.
Vile’s 2017 tour with Courtney Barnett saw plenty of ticket action, having sold out venues like Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and Boston’s Orpheum Theatre. Vile was also popular in Australia and sold out the 300-seat Northcote Social Club for a gross exceeding $13,000.
Connections appears with Vile And The Violators through June 16 and Dylan Carlson handles support duties July 10-17. Tickets go on sale March 23.
