A middle ear condition has caused Celine Dion to cancel her March and April performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Dion has been experiencing hearing irregularities making it difficult to sing. According to a statement issued by Caesars Palace, Dion has been dealing with these health issues during the past 12-18 months but had success treating the problems with eardrop medications. That is, until the past couple of weeks when the meds no longer gave her any relief, causing her to undergo a “minimally invasive surgical procedure.”
Dion’s visit to the OR means she has canceled all performances scheduled for March 27 through April 18. Dion’s next scheduled performance at The Colosseum will be May 22.
Her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been a money-making venture since it began in 2003 and helped pave the way for other artists to stake out their own Sin City extended stays. Data submitted to Pollstar demonstrates Dion’s boxoffice power. For example, her Memorial Day Weekend run in 2017 consisted of four filled-to-capacity shows that altogether sold 16,105 tickets making for a total gross reaching upwards of $2.7 million.
Fans who used credit cards to purchase tickets receive refunds delivered to their accounts. Folks who used cash for their ticket purchases can receive refunds at the original point of purchase. Dion, along with Caesars Palace and AEG Presents, apologized for any inconveniences the cancellations may have caused.
“My luck hasn’t been very good lately, Dion said. “I’ve been so looking forward to doing my shows again and this happens. … I just can’t believe it! I apologize to everyone who planned to travel to Las Vegas to see my show. I know how disappointing this is, and I’m so sorry.”
