Steely Dan books nine October shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre along with single evenings in Richmond, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Baltimore and Bethlehem, Pa..  Presales and general onsales begin this week.

It almost looked as if Steely Dan had written its last page in music’s history book when co-founder Walter Becker died of esophageal cancer in September 2017.  But co-founder Donald Fagen continues to present the band’s marvelous legacy.  Steely Dan returned to the road in October for shows in North America and Europe.  The band’s Oct. 22 concert at Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallinford, Conn., sold 2,896 out of 3,500 and grossed $232,113.  Steely Dan also appeared at “Bluesfest” at The O2 – London with the Doobie Brothers where the group played before a sold-out crowd of $15,043 on an evening that grossed $1,490,048.

Steely Dan’s return to the Beacon Theatre takes place Oct. 17-18,20-21, 24, 26-27 &29-30.  Plans include devoting “themed” nights to each of the band’s classic albums like Countdown To Ecstasy, Aja and
Can’t Buy A Thrill along with deep dives into Steely Dan’s catalog.  There will also be “By Popular Demand” and “Greatest Hits Nights.”

The October shows won’t be the first time Steely Dan has played at The Beacon.  The band performed album shows at the venue in 2008, 2009, 2011. 2013. 2015 and 2016.

But Steely Dan has more gigs to announce than the autumn NYC residency.  The band has lined up five single evening leading up to the Big Apple shows – Oct. 1 at Altria Theater in Richmond, Va.; Oct. 8 at Heinz Hall For The Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Oct. 9 at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo; Oct. 11 at Lyric Theater in Baltimore; and Oct. 14 at Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Pa.

Backing Fagen under the Steely Dan banner will be Jon Herington (guitar), Keith Carlock (drums), Freddie Washington (bass), and Jim Beard (keyboards), along with a four-piece horn section and three backup vocalists.

An American Express presale begins March 27 at 10 a.m. and runs through March 29 at 10 p.m. All times EDT.  General onsales launch March 30.
