Nurit Siegel Smith has been named executive director of the House of Blues Music Forward Foundation.
“I couldn’t be more honored and delighted to lead Music Forward Foundation as we continue to empower and inspire young people to reach their highest potential through career opportunities in the music industry both on and off the stage,” Smith said in a statement. “We help young people turn their passions into professions, which also creates opportunity for the industry to reinvigorate its workforce with a new, vibrant and diverse generation of leaders.”
Prior to her time with Music Forward Smith was deputy director at Grand Performances in Los Angeles.
She has also worked with Blue Man Group, Highways Performance Space, and SAG-AFTRA Foundation as director of education and director of institutional advancement and strategic partnerships.
Music Forward is a charity that works to create opportunities for youth in the music industry. A press release states that the organization has impacted more than 1 million youth and invested $25 million in programs for young people from under-represented communities. It is largely supported by Live Nation, which owns the House of Blues venues and has dedicated elements of the House of Blues brand to benefit the charity.
