Citing a “medical situation,” Bonnie Raitt will not appear on the first leg of James Taylor’s 2018 tour.

Billed as Taylor’s “special guest” on the outing, Raitt was to embark on the tour May 8 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.

But Raitt’s current health status means she won’t join Taylor’s tour until the second leg starts in late June.

An announcement posted on JamesTaylor.com states that most dates on the first leg will now be billed as “an evening with James Taylor & His All-Star Band,” and that Raitt’s first date on the tour will be when the second leg launches June 22 at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn.

Taylor also mentioned that Sheryl Crow will join him May 29 at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Ariz., and May 31-June 1 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

“I’m deeply sorry to have to disappoint my fans, James and colleagues with these cancellations,” Raitt said in a statement.  “I was so looking forward to our tour, but I’m grateful that the doctors feel this can be taken care of with surgery.  I’m feeling strong and am in great hands with my wonderful team.  I fully expect to return for the second leg of the U.S. tour in June followed by our European tour in July.”
