That’s not all, folks. Austin City Limits Music Festival unleashed its talent-packed lineup, listing headliners Paul McCartney, Metallica, Childish Gambino, Arctic Monkeys, Travis Scott and Odesza headlining the two-weekend extravaganza.
Produced by C3 Presents, this year’s ACL takes over Austin’s Zilker Park Oct. 5-7 and Oct. 12-14 and will be the first time McCartney and Metallica headline the event as well as the only festival gig on each act’s 2018 touring calendar.
Diving deeper into today’s announcement reveals ACL will also host The National, Khalid, Hozier, David Byrne, Chvrches, Deftones, Justice, St. Vincent, Sylvan Esso, Father John Misty, Brandi Carlile, Illenium, Janelle Monáe, and many others. Organizers are promising more than 125 bands will play the fest.
Some of the artists listed on the lineup may not surprise festivalgoers. A TV advertisement that played in the Austin market in recent days promoted a drug called “Acielle (zilkerus festum)” that treats folks suffering from lack of live music, according to Austin 360. The ad also mentioned David Byrne, The National and Chvrches as appearing at this year’s mega-shindig.
Although organizers haven’t revealed daily schedules, today’s announcement does mention that Camila Cabello, Deftones, The Breeders, Houndmouth, Sharon Van Etten, and Greta Van Fleet are among the acts appearing Oct. 5-7 while Shawn Mendes, Børns, Manchester Orchestra, Lily Allen and Marian Hill are some of the artists performing Oct. 12-14.
