Count Basie Theatre Renamed

Officials with the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, N.J., announced May 14 the facility is being renamed Count Basie Center For The Arts to reflect the expansion project underway and plans for the future.

“For 34 years the Count Basie Theatre name has been synonymous with the region’s very best in arts and entertainment,” Adam Philipson, center president and CEO, said in a statement. “Today, we raise the Basie name to represent all that this regional center for the arts stands for: our nonprofit mission of arts and education, our work in schools and the community, and all of the excellence and excitement that comes from that.”

The venue’s $26 million expansion will include the Jay and Linda Grunin Arts and Education Building, a second performance space, expanded lobby, new concessions and restroom facilities, a members’ lounge, Stillwell-Larkin Pavilion and an outdoor plaza.
