Those sounds you’ve been hearing are the joyous cheers of Tenacious D fans as Jack Black and Kyle Gass announce the group’s first tour in five long years.

It was the year a meteorite exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, Edward Snowden became a household name and people throughout the world celebrated the birth of Prince George of Cambridge.  But more importantly, it was the last year Tenacious D embarked on a headlining tour of North America, playing places like Express Live! in Columbus, Ohio, where fans grabbed all 2,200 tickets and the total gross was $86,900, or Stage AE in Pittsburgh, Pa., with 2,300 tickets sold for a $90,850 final gross.

Sure, there have been a few festival appearances, such as Mexico City’s “Hell & Heaven Metal Fest” held earlier this month and worthy causes like “Strange 80’s: A Benefit For Sweet Relief Musicians Fund” that took place in Los Angeles one year ago, but The D has been mostly silent as of late.

But the touring drought for Messrs. Black and Gass concludes this year when Tenacious D launches a brand-new adventure with a gig at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre Nov. 3.  With stops including Washington, Philadelphia and Detroit, the Mighty D will keep on doing its good work all the way to its final stop – Nov. 13 at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre.

But fans won’t have to wait for a taste of live Tenacious D.  The band will play the Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec, June 16 and Cal Jam 18 in San Bernardino, Calif., Oct. 6.

Word from Tenacious D HQ is that the band is working on new material to follow its epic 2012 Rise OF The Fenix release.

Meanwhile, Black and Gass have released this incredible tour trailer to promote their return to the road.

General onsales begin 10 a.m. local time May 18.  Keep checking Pollstar’s Tenacious D page for updates.
