The annual Vancouver Mural Festival, a week-long festival dedicated to the creation and celebration of murals art, will add a concert to this year’s event, to be produced in partnership with Live Nation.
The promotion giant received approval from the city to host an event at Jonathan Ross Park in conjunction with the festival, a Live Nation representative told Pollstar.
Details regarding a lineup were not available at press time, but the festival is to take place Aug. 6-11.
The festival is produced by the non-profit organization Create Vancouver Society. It began in 2016, drawing inspiration from Montreal’s MURAL Festival.
VMF bills itself not only as a celebration of a visual art from, but also as a space to “transform the way Vancouver understands and cares for culture, heritage, and its people.”
Last year’s VMF also included a musical element in the Underplay Concert Series, which featured performances by acts like Yukon Blonde, Basia Bulat, We Are The City, and Operators in local venues like The Biltmore, The Fox Cabaret, The Cobalt, and The Lido.
Vancouver is one of Canada’s largest markets and according to Pollstar’s 2017 records grossed $68.6 million off 107 reports.
