Kali Uchis Announces North American Tour; LA Shrine Expo Already On Verge Of Selling Out

Bonnaroo 2018
Colombian-American singer-songwriter Kali Uchis, who just played high-profile sets at Coachella and Bonnaroo and wrapped a support slot on Lana Del Rey’s major arena tour, will this fall play both coasts with her manager saying her Shrine Expo Hall show in Los Angeles is already on the verge of selling out.
Kicking off Sept. 13 at Seattle’s Showbox SoDo, the tour continues with venues and markets including the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles, Bomb Factory in Dallas, House of Blues Houston, The Fillmore Charlotte, Tabernacle in Atlanta and ends Oct. 23 at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Support on select dates are Cuco and Gabriel Garzon-Montano.
General ticket onsale is Friday June 22, with presales beginning Thursday.
Kali Uchis’ debut LP Isolation is out now on Interscore Records with universal acclaim and features from stars like Tyler, The Creator, Bootsy Collins, Jorja Smith and production credits from Thundercat among others.
Her manager, Jon Lieberberg, told Pollstar the tour is a big moment in her career.
“It’s exciting for her to play in those kinds of venues,” Lieberberg said. “We put The Shrine on sale and we’re as good as sold out. To sell 5,000 tickets in L.A., where she’s based, is quite something.”
She was raised between Virginia and her parents’ native Colombia, and often sings in Spanish.
She was nominated for a 2017 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance for her collaboration with Daniel Caesar, “Get You,” and for a Latin Grammy for Record of the Year for her song with Juanes, “El Ratico.”
Lieberberg said her live show includes a full band with Kali in total control of the audience.
“From the get go she has a very engaged audience – very young and very hip crowd, so you have a lot of kids from all ethnicities, boys, girls, definitely in the 16-25 demographic which gives it a special dynamic,” Lieberberg said. “From the moment Kali goes onstage and the first chords are played, everyone is singing along to every song.”
Uchis is represented by WME.
