Kim Schifino of Matt And Kim gets crazy during the band’s show at Royal Oak Music Theatre in Michigan April 18.
After being forced to cancel their tour last year because of Kim’s ACL injury, Matt and Kim are ready to keep rocking 2018. The indie pop/electronic duo is following up their spring excursion with this week’s announcement of a fall North American headline tour.
“We are going back on tour in the Fall! Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 28th. The first half of this tour was crazy and I am so excited to get back on the road!” Kim posted on Facebook.
Matt And Kim will be showing off tunes from their sixth studio album, Almost Everyday, which was released in May. The band started writing the LP a month after Kim’s ACL surgery and describe the collection of music as “the most important songs we’ve ever written.”
Kim was injured while running on stage to begin the band’s March 2017 performance at “Festival Vaiven” in Morelos, Mexico. After jumping, then trying to stand and collapsing, Kim went on to play four songs before the pain was too much and she was forced to be carried off stage. The duo documented her ride in an ambulance and time in the hospital.
But now that’s in the past and the duo is back to doing what they do best. Phoenix New Times describes the group as a “quintessential modern pop sensation.”
The publication declares, “Like the mythical Pied Piper, who lured and hypnotized followers with the sweet sounds of his magical flute, the dance-band duo from Brooklyn known as Matt and Kim have that same capacity to take hold of their audience. With charming smiles, saccharine, almost childlike demeanors, and the fortitude to crowd-surf over thousands of fans, Matt and Kim live are mesmerizing.”
The fall tour launches Sept. 1 in Nashville. Here’s how the schedule stands now, with Kim promising that the duo is working on adding dates in Florida and Seattle:
