Live Nation Signs Long-Term Lease For New Portland Venue
Live Nation has announced a long-term lease to bring a new concert venue to Portland, Ore.’s Lloyd Center, with the venue located on the top floor of the old Nordstrom building.
“Portland is a great music market with a strong fan base,” said Liam Thornton, executive vice president of development of Live Nation’s Clubs & Theatres group, in a statement announcing the lease. “This mid-size venue will fill the gap between the smaller-club venues and larger arenas already present in Portland, bringing fans even more entertainment offerings.”
Venue details are scarce, with a representative telling Pollstar the design is still being worked out and plans aren’t to open until 2020. The announcement states that concertgoers can expect state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology, and other accommodations including unmatched VIP amenities, communal bars and lounge areas for pre and post event dining, and more. The venue boxoffice will be on the ground floor.
Live Nation in recent months has announced multiple venue projects at the club and theatre level, including taking over operations at the 2,000-capacity Cleveland Masonic, which has announced The Breeders, Hanson and Halestorm playing the venue in November.
