Barclays Center Picks Up Matt Felker As New GM, Zino Upped At Nassau Veterans Memorial
Matt Felker has reportedly been appointed GM of Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and his most recent position at NYCB Live home of The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will be filled by Joe Zino, both changes effective Oct. 1.
Current Barclays GM Steve Rosebrook is soon leaving, according to IQ Magazine, which is the catalyst for the shuffle.
Both Barclays Center and NYCB Live are operated by AEG Facilities and BSE Global.
“Steve and his AEG Facilities colleagues have done a tremendous job building world-class arena operations teams at both venues,” Brett Yormark, CEO of BSE Global told IQ. “We’re excited about the future with Matt and Joe and congratulate them on their well-deserved promotions. They have been integral leaders in the operation of Barclays Center and NYCB Live.”
The 19,000-capacity Barclays Center is home to the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and NHL’s New York Islanders, although the hockey team will split time between Barclays and Nassau as a new arena is constructed at Belmont Park on Long Island. That new 18,000-capacity arena will be marketed and managed by Oak View Group, Pollstar’s parent company.
Barclays is set to host multiple nights of major acts like Drake and Bruno Mars in 2018, and in 2019 the arena will have Elton John, Panic! At The Disco, and Shawn Mendes. The venue made it to No. 20 on the 2018 Mid Year Top 200 Arenas Worldwide Ticket Sales chart, with 274,866 tickets reported.
The 14,975-capacity Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum first opened in 1972 and recently underwent renovation, reopening in 2017. The Coliseum will have Fall Out Boy Aug. 29; A.R. Rahman Sept. 1; Elton John Oct. 9; and Twenty One Pilots Oct. 27.
Despite a smaller capacity, NYCB Live Home of The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum came in ahead of Barclays Center on the Mid Year ticket sales chart, coming in at No. 19 with 287,269 tickets reported.
