Trans-Siberian Orchestra Celebrates 20 Years With 2018 Winter Tour

Trans-Siberian Orchestra
– Trans-Siberian Orchestra

The musical smörgåsbord that is Trans-Siberian Orchestra is celebrating two decades of holiday rock on the road with a full tour of its classic show “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve.”

There are two touring companies and the routing begins in Green Bay, Wis., and Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Nov. 14. The routing moves the two productions all around North America, with 65 cities getting more than 100 performances, the last of which are on Dec. 30.

TSO’s Verified Fan Registration period lasts for 12 days, starting today, after which, fan club members get access to a presale for the November shows Sept. 5 and the Dec. 1-16 shows Sept. 6, and the last December shows Sept. 7. Verified Fans who aren’t members of the fan club get a presale Sept. 11-12. The general onsale is Sept. 14.

The holiday rock opera will feature music composed by late TSO founder Paul O’Neill, as made familiar to many by the long-running fundraiser program that runs on PBS. In honor of the group’s upcoming milestone, a 20th anniversary edition of The Christmas Attic will be released Sept. 28.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s agent, Marc Geiger of WME, spoke to Pollstar in February about what he calls the “biggest rock show on the road.”

“It might be the biggest and most efficient tour going. Period. No one else even attempts to do what they do. It’s a really fascinating case study.”

The numbers certainly don’t lie, as TSO reached No. 27 on Pollstar’s Year End Top 100 Worldwide Tours in 2017, with more than 1 million tickets sold to 102 performances and a gross of $61.5 million (incorporating estimates for unreported dates). Geiger said their ranking could be much higher, but they make it a priority to keep prices affordable for whole families.

TSO has donated more than $15 million to North American charities, according to a press release, which Geiger explained, is another key component of how TSO operates.
