OVG Facilities To Manage New Arena: UPMC Events Center To Open On Robert Morris University Campus Next Summer
OVG Facilities will manage Robert Morris University’s $43 million UPMC Events Center, scheduled to open next summer on the school’s campus in the Pittsburgh suburb of Moon Township.
OVG Facilities will provide management, booking and operational services to the 161,000-square-foot building, which will house an arena seating more than 4,000, a practice court and locker rooms, and a strength and conditioning center, plus an 11,000-square-foot conference and meeting space. Robert Morris men’s and women’s basketball teams and its women’s volleyball team will play there, and plans call for concerts and other events at the facility.
OVG Facilities counts several university complexes among the venues it manages, including another in the state, the Kovalchick Complex on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. It is a division of Oak View Group, which is also the owner of VenuesNow and Pollstar.
The name of sponsor University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is on the center as part of a broad partnership with the university. The name of another sponsor, natural gas service provider Peoples, is on the arena in the building. Pittsburgh’s Ross Bianco is the project’s architect.
