Alicia Pruitt, who has been senior A&R executive for Warner/Chappell Nashville for years, has launched a new management company in partnership with Red Light Management.
Madfun Entertainment will include full service talent management, starting with Atlantic Records’ recording artist Josie Dunne. Currently on tour with Andy Grammer, Pruitt said her client will also open for
O.A.R., and generally be on the road a lot in the coming year.
When asked why she decided to partner with Red Light, Pruitt told Pollstar: “It just felt like a really good fit. Coran [Capshaw] and I had a couple of really good conversations and it just felt like the right time and the right atmosphere.”
Launching Madfun with Josie Dunne as her first client, Pruitt said she always has her eyes open for more talent.
Pruitt said though she will be giving lots of energy to the new company, she considers Warner/Chappell family, as she has been working there since 2005, and will continue supporting songwriters Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, Brantley Gilbert, and Lauren Alaina in a consultative role as needed.
Asked why she decided to get into management, Pruitt said: “I just love working with songwriters and with artists, I feel like that’s always what I’ve done anyway as a publisher is manage their career, either as a songwriter or artist.
“It’s definitely a transition, it’s for sure definitely a new thing, but a lot of the way publishers work is management. Being over here with these people [at Red Light] is going to be really cool and exciting.”
