Britney Spears Announces New Las Vegas Residency at Park Theater In Spectacular Fashion

Britney Spears tonight (Oct. 18) announced “Britney: Domination,” her new two-year residency at the Park Theater at Park MGM which will kick off in February 2019 .

 “Britney: Domination” is the follow-up to Spears’ record-setting four-year “Piece of Me: residency at AXIS Theater at Planet Hollywood (now Zappos Theater), which ended on Dec. 31, 2017 and sold some one-million tickets with a $140 million gross over the course of 250 shows.

The news broke in spectacular fashion via a YouTube livestream on Ellen DeGeneres’ channel from the Vegas Strip with a full-on parade in front of the Park MGM and some 65,000 fans tuning in. Mario Lopez introduced Spears as the Park MGM lit-up in a kaleidoscope of color and images while a medley of Spears’ hit-filled back catalog played including “Toxic” and “…Baby One More Time.”  YouTube star Kalen Allen hosted the event.

The live stream peaked after some 20 minutes when Spears appeared at atop a stairwell, sauntered down and signed autographs for fans before being whisked away in a waiting car.

“I am so happy to be returning to my second home – Las Vegas!” Spears said in a statement following the event. “I’m working on a brand-new show and I’m so excited for my fans to see it! It’s going to be so much fun being back on stage and I can’t wait to perform at Park Theater.”

The residency is presented in partnership with MGM Resorts International and Live Nation with Citi as the event's official card sponsor. “Britney Spears has been a fan favorite in the pop music world and a leader in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years," Bill Hornbuckle, President of MGM Resorts International, stated. "We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with her team throughout the years so bringing the Queen of Pop to Park MGM, and adding her to our resident artist lineup, is exciting for me personally as well as for our company. We look forward to her grand opening in February when her fans will rock Park Theater.” The announcement comes just as Pollstar tomorrow (Oct. 19) will feature Britney Spears on the cover of its Oct. 29 print edition as part of a Special Package that looks in depth at Spears' historical residency, her team led by manager Larry Rudolph of Maverick Management and what lies ahead for Spears' Park Theater run.
