Quavo of the rap supergroup Migos has launched a solo album with some serious traction on the Elite 100 Artists chart for the week ending Oct. 18, as it boosted him to the No. 2 spot, behind only Drake.
The rapper racked up 103.4 million streams, by far his strongest metric. He also had 26,500 song sales and 6,400 album sales after the release of Quavo Huncho Oct. 12.
Quavo and the rest of Migos are still on tour with Drake throughout North America. Those shows wrap up with a three-night stand at State Farm Arena in the trio’s home market of Atlanta Nov. 16-18. The next show the first of a three-night stand Oct. 26-27, and Oct. 29 at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
Ella Mai also released her eponymous debut LP Oct. 12, and she hit big with 57.1 million streams being her best category. She also sold 33,200 songs and sold 13,400 albums, for a grand totally of 54,800 album units. She was catapulted into the international spotlight with her single “Boo’d Up,” her songs “Trip” and “She Don’t” provided a meaningful follow-up, and now she has a full album of music for her adoring fans.
Mai has a headline tour lined up for 2019 that includes headline gigs at Showbox SoDo in Seattle; Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif.; Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Ogden Theatre in Denver.
The big dog in terms of streams was, unsurprisingly, still Drake, who logged 117.6 million. Behind him were Quavo and then the late XXXTentacion.
The week’s leader in song sales far and away was Lady Gaga, who sold 112,100 for the week. She is also listed separately with Bradley Cooper for the music from the film “A Star Is Born,” and that duo led the album sales category with 15,500.
Other new entries on the chart this week include Bad Bunny, who racked up 30,300 album units without a single album sale; Shy Glizzy with 11,700 album units;
Artists scheduled to release albums this week include John Legend, Lukas Graham, Ty Segall, The Struts, Ty Dolla $ign and Jeremih, Black Eyed Peas, Mick Jenkins, and Robyn.
Also, next week’s charts will include from Ace Frehley; Disturbed; Elle King; Greta Van Fleet; Lil Yachty; Richard Ashcroft; MØ; and Yoko Ono.
