Electric Daisy Carnival Set To Return To China
– EDC Guangdong
Insomniac is following up its spring Electric Daisy Carnival in Shanghai with a return to China in November for the first-ever EDC Guangdong.
The Nov. 24-25 event will take place in the South China province of Guangdong on the grounds of the marine theme park Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Hengquin, Zhuhai. The lineup hasn’t been revealed yet but you can expect sets from “today’s most sought after DJs” with a mix of local and international artists on three stages.
The event will also feature roaming theatrical performers, interactive art installations and Insomniac’s state-of-the-art lighting and stage designs.
Just like the April EDC debut in China, Insomniac is working with local promoter Zebra Entertainment Enterprise to put on the festival. The sold-out Shanghai edition boasted performances from more than 50 artists including Alison Wonderland, Deadmau5, Illenium, Martin Garrix, and Marshmello.
Since launching in Los Angeles in 1997 EDC has expanded worldwide, with festivals in the U.K., Mexico, Japan, India and Brazil.
Last year’s edition of EDC in Mexico City placed No. 18 on Pollstar’s Year End Top 20 Worldwide Festival Grosses chart, with 188,152 tickets sold and nearly 6.9 million grossed.
Insomniac, which was founded by Pasquale Rotella in 1993, entered into a partnership with Live Nation in 2013.
